Three Podiums in 2013: Now we mean business !!!

After securing three consecutive second places in the first three races of the year, we have to find that little bit extra to take the top step, but it should be sooner rather than later.

There was a definite feeling of make or break when we travelled up to North London, this would be our defining race. My mum told me “This race will show your true qualities, if you can finish on the podium in North London, you can finish on the podium anywhere”.

She was right, this race would let us know whether we were just Crawley specialists or whether our pace was genuine, we started on the front row and took the lead by turn one. (The team took the decision that I should be the one to start the race because I was recovering from a cold and foot injury so I would not be up to my usual speed). Nevertheless it was an amazing feeling to have clean air in front of you and just push knowing that you are in the lead.  Continue Reading →

“We are driving at our best at the moment” – Alessandro

Alessandro Di Genova (ITA) Ugbaja Grand Prix Karting Team

After taking two podiums from the first two races of 2013, Sporting Director Alessandro Di Genova believes that this is proof that Ugbaja Grand Prix is in its best form.

The team has enjoyed a successful start to 2013, with two podiums from the first two races both of which were second place finishes.

With just under a month till the team are back in action again at TeamSport: North London, Alessandro Di Genova believes that the team can finish on the podium again even though this will be their first visit to the track.

“I’m feeling pretty confident for the next race, we have shown over the past few years that we are quick on any layout so I believe that it should not be a problem for us to be competitive there even though we have not been there before. We are driving at our best at the moment, there is a confidence in us that we can perform anywhere so hopefully we can finish on the podium there, preferably on the top step.”

Ugbaja Grand Prix resumes racing on the 17th April at TeamSport: North London (TBC)

Start of 2013? So far so good .. But we can always improve!!

(Far Left) Joshua Cameron (GBR) Ugbaja Grand Prix Karting Team

After securing back-to-back second places in the first two races of the year, there is a lot more that can be done to make sure that the win does not keep slipping away from us.

I guess it is a good feeling to be disappointed to finish second, especially when you havent raced for eight months. The start of 2013 has been extremely positive, to be honest it has gone better than a lot of us on the team expected, but yet we are still rueing missed opportunities and that has to come to a stop.
